Team Lac Indien at the Yukon Quest 2023

On Sunday, February 5th, we began our epic adventure across the country destined for the Yukon. We drove 5,500 km in 75 hours, eventually settling into the Whitehorse area on February 8th.

On February 11th, Janna Lee and her dogs, Team Lac Indien, pulled up to the starting line for a long awaited experience. Excellent trail conditions, fantastic scenery, and great weather completed the Yukon’s lure, and at 12:46 pm, 25 hours after leaving Whitehorse, Janna Lee pulled into the Braeburn Check Point to a hero’s welcome.

After a few days of rest and relaxation, we started our journey home. En route, we picked up Millie - a 4-month-old Seppala Siberian pup. Stopping at the Terry Fox Memorial lookout near Thunder Bay was a trip highlight, as this special place honors an inspiring young Canadian who was quoted saying, “Dreams are made possible if you try.”

On the afternoon of February 22nd, under clear skies and bare roads, we pulled into Lac Indien to a warm welcome from Jo Ellen, CJ, Derek, and an ecstatic kennel of dogs.
